Facebook Group Helps Tornado Victims Get Their Belongings Back

A Facebook group is helping the victims of the massive Oklahoma tornado, which killed 51 people and left many homeless, get their belongings back

On its trail of destruction, the tornado has blown debris from houses — including people's personal belongings and important documents — many miles away.

The Facebook group asks members to post photos of any items or documents that were blown into their yard, so that they can be returned to the rightful owners

"I'm just trying to help. I couldn't imagine losing my kids' pictures," Leslie Hagelberg, the group's founder, told The Huffington Post. Read more...

Report: Facebook Looking to Buy Waze for $1 Billion

Facebook is considering buying GPS company Waze for $800 million to $1 billion, Israeli daily newspaper Calcalist reports.

The talks are in an advanced stage, Calcalist claims. The two companies started talking started six months ago, due diligence is underway and a term sheet was signed

Waze, whose turn-by-turn navigation app uses crowdsourcing to gather real-time conditions on the road, has had 44 million users in April 2013

The two companies are partners; Waze already lets users share their drive with Facebook friends. Buying a social, mobile app with a strong user base makes sense for Facebook; if the acquisition happens it'll be interesting to see what Facebook's plans are in the GPS/location space Read more...

Facebook Home Starts Rolling Out Internationally Today

Facebook Home will start rolling out to users outside of the U.S. on Tuesday, Facebook's head of mobile engineering Cory Ondrejka revealed at ATD's Dive Into Mobile conference

Furthermore, Ondrejka said that the first update to Facebook Home is coming in the "second week of May." No details about the new version were given

The new Facebook-centric UI for Android phones became available in the U.Slast week
